FTA NEWSLETTER
22 MAY 2022

 From the President:

Greetings Everyone, as higher temperatures return to the Sunshine State remember to hydrate yourselves regularly.

Our Spring Shoot conducted at the Silver Dollar 13-15 May had 194 entrants over the three-day event. We could not have asked for better weather for the event! I would like to thank all who attended and help make the event a success.

Our FTA Miss and Out had 23 shooters and was enjoyed by all. Shooter Mark Wade was the overall Winner and donated his winnings to the AIM Program. Thanks Mark.

Our quarterly Board of Directors meeting was conducted on Saturday after conclusion of Shoot Offs. Of note from the meeting was the announcement by the Silver Dollar that, due to economic reasons, they would no longer be able to Sponsor our Youth Program. The Silver Dollar has been paying half of our Florida Youth Shooters entry monies and all of the Non-Resident youth entry money. The FTA will continue to pay half of our Resident youth entries. The other half will have to be paid by the shooter. Youth shooters wishing to utilize our program will have to pay full price at entry of event. They can then provide the paid entry receipt to the FTA Secretary and receive a 50% refund minus daily fees. This system was in place prior to the Silver Dollar sponsorship. Provisions stated in the FTA By-Laws for use of this program still apply.  Also of note, the BOD accepted my nomination of Sarah Jacobs as FTA Secretary/Treasurer. Sarah assumed duties on 1 May 2022 and has made a smooth transition.

The only outstanding business is printing of the shoot cards and Liability insurance renewal that comes due in September. Shoot Cards will be turned over to the printer on 1 June 2022.

Your humble servant,

Jake Jacobs, FTA President

“Gun Club Fund Application”

Who is eligible for the gun club grants?

Any Active ATA gun club may be eligible for a grant. Any club that threw registered

targets within the current or previous target year is considered active.

Kinds of projects which will be funded:

□ A project refers to any type of activity the gun club is doing to try and promote or

better ATA registered trapshooting at their gun club

o The club might have a specific program they are trying to begin such as

AIM

□ A project also refers to items the club may need to purchase in order for their

club to operate more effectively

o For instance, the club may need to purchase automatic trap machines, new

voice release systems, or new traps

o The club may also have a need to invest in new computer equipment or

might need to purchase new computer software

How gun club grant proposals are reviewed and decided:

All eligible gun clubs will be given the opportunity to apply for funds. The Gun Club

Fund Application must be completed by July 1st of every year. The Gun Club Endowment

Committee or C3 Committee will evaluate all proposals. Those Clubs chosen to receive

funds will be announced at the Grand American. Clubs that receive funds must submit an

Thoughts

The Florida Trap Shooters Association is an organization that all Florida shooters are a part of. The organization in one form or another has been around for over a hundred years. Members please learn about the workings of the organization and your local gun clubs. Please read the by-laws (found at floridatrap.com/fta-by-laws) . Ask ex officers for a rundown on how the business works. You may be called upon to serve or have Ideas to better the FTA. Don’t be shy.
