Greetings Shooters!
I would first like to start by thanking our outgoing FTA President and Vice President, Ted Fortune and Guy Long respectively, for their hard work and dedication to our organization through their tenures. With their leadership, we were able to keep the organization prosperous during unprecedented times. Secondly, I would like to congratulate our incoming President, Jake Jacobs, and Vice President, Mike Reynolds. I have no doubt they will continue to lead us in the right direction.
For those who have not heard yet, the ATA has announced that the 2021 Grand American will be returning to the World Shooting Recreational Complex in Sparta Illinois. At this time, it is unclear if social distancing and masking will be enforced, so stay tuned for further announcements for those details. Additionally, the State of Illinois will be operating a mobile vaccination center on the property that will be administering the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccination to anyone who would like to receive it. They are offering 100 free targets as an incentive to get the vaccine.
I would like to close, by thanking everyone for attending the 2021 Florida State Shoot. Our turnout was approximately 82% of that of the Southern Grand American, which is up about 20% over historic turnouts. I will have a more detailed breakdown of the shoot in my delegate column in Trap and Field over the next few months.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the FTA Spring Championship, May 13th – 16th where the added money has been increased over previous year. Check out the program at Floridatrap.com.
Until then, shoot straight!
Thomas Harrington
Florida ATA Delegate
