From the Delegate:

Greetings Shooters!

I hope everyone is staying healthy and sane during these trying times. I know that I am getting stir crazy and missing the smell of burning gun powder. Since there aren’t any shoots to report, in lieu of a Trap and Field article, I am going to communicate here through our newsletter so that I can better keep everyone up to date.

I have received several questions pertaining to the 2020 Grand American scheduled for August 5th-15th so I wanted to take a moment and give everyone the latest information that has come down from the ATA. As many of you have read by now, the ATA home office had to close per an Executive Order issued by the Governor of Illinois. While this has been an inconvenience for operations, the Executive Committee and staff have been diligently working from home since the lockdown. At this moment, they are working as if the Grand will be executed as scheduled.

Although, as the situations surrounding COVID-19 are ever changing, the EC is scheduled to meet in the middle of June to discuss and make their final determinations relating to the Grand. Some of the items to be discussed are target requirements, All-American points for 2020, and the biggie, will the conditions allow for a Grand at that time?

As of now, the EC is recommending that state associations attempt to schedule, at a minimum, the championship events in their respective state shoots in order to roster shooters for the Champion of Champions event during the 2020 Grand American.

I am staying in constant contact with the ATA so should anything change, I will let everyone know ASAP, so stay tuned. It is my hope that we can get back to life as we knew it, sooner rather than later!

I normally end with “until then, shoot straight!” but that seems inappropriate considering the majority of clubs are closed so instead I’ll leave you with a quote from Albert Einstein.

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”
