Grand Picnic: 7 AUG 2018:

Seven days until the 2018 Grand American begins.

President Ted has taken the helm and will be the head chef at this years Florida State Grand Picnic! Location will be as before, the Sporting Clays pavilion located on the very west end of the Grand property. 17:30, that’s 5:30 p.m., has been set as the start time for the festivities.

The FTA will provide meats, condiments, bread and assorted chips. Members are requested to provide their choice of beverage and, if possible, a side dish to share.

Anyone wishing to assist is asked to please contact President Ted.

A state picture will be scheduled sometime during Grand week. Notification for the date and time will be posted in the main lobby so keep an eye out for it.

We wish all who are traveling to the Grand Safe Travels and Good Shooting.

We hope to have the Spring Championship scores and a link to the Zone scores posted to the web site soon. Yep its late but there has been much din around our house. Hopefully we have tamed most and some normalcy will return.

Remember, Safety is every ones business and remember to properly hydrate. Jake

Southern Zone Shoot Report:

Hello fellow shooters,

From July 19th through July 22nd we logged the 2018 ATA Southern Zone Tournament into the history books. Like years past, shooters faced the heat, extreme humidity, and rain at the Silver Dollar Shooters Club. As per usual, Silver Dollar put on an excellent shoot and I’d like to thank them for the hospitality and efforts in running a superb event.

Despite the trying conditions at Silver Dollar, our shooters represented the state well and walked away with several Southern Zone trophies. Congratulations go out to Kenny and Delia Sippel for their wins in Event 4 Class Singles, in Vet and Lady 2 respectively. Jack Shumpert took home Sr. Vet in Event 5 Dixie Handicap. On Saturday, Alex Riera won AA in the Event 7 Singles Championship. Matt Trammel walked away with AA Champion in the Event 8 Doubles Championship. Big congratulations go to Alberta Brooks who smashed her way to a Lady 2 win in the Event 9 Handicap Championship. Her 96 was also the high score turned in at Silver Dollar.

While shooting at the Central Kentucky Gun Club, Florida resident Lewis Laroche SR. put on a clinic in the Event 8 Doubles Championship by posting a score of 100 to take Zone Champion!

A big thank you goes out to all who braved the weather to make the shoot at Silver Dollar so enjoyable. If you didn’t make it out to shoot with us this year, I’d urge you to come out next year and partake in the fun!

Shoot straight!
