Jan 2017 Newsletter
Hopefully all have welcomed 2017 with Great Expectations of good scores, happiness and good health.
As you will see from the President and Delegates reports there are good thing going on in the FTA. Some of the information is redundant but better twice than not at all.
Our Secretary wants to remind everyone the proposed changes to the FTA By-Laws must be received by her NLT 24 Janurary 2017 to be considered for review. Nominations for FTA Officers, Zone Directors and Hall of Fame Committe members must be received by her NLT 7 March 2017. In addition all current Zone Directors that wish to continue in their position MUST respond to her with their intention to do so.
Work is on going on our Web site. If you have been using a bookmark and find it does not work, delete it, type, www.floridatrap.com into your browser, when the site opens, re-book mark it. Should you have problems, email me and hopefully I’ll be able to help.
On our web site you can access both the 2017 Hall of Fame and State Shoot Programs. Both were prepared by our President, Joe Loitz. It is thru countless hours and phone calls that these programs came to be. Give Joe a big thanks when you see him.
If all goes as planned we will have our State Shoot Hats and Shirts for sale beginning with the Hall of Fame Shoot. We owe Ken Ross and Bill Miller a thanks for allowing us the opportunity to sell these items.
Sarah and I hope to see everyone at he HOF.
Message from our FTA President:
The 2017 trapshooting season is at the jumping off point starting with the Hall of Fame (HOF) shoot on January 20-22nd at Silver Dollar. We invite all our members to join us celebrating the career of Don Kerce. The Hall of Fame shoot is truly one of the FTA’s premier events each year. The induction ceremony includes an incredible dinner and cocktail hour full of cheer and great camaraderie. Attend one of these events and you too will be hooked on the experience!
The state shoot program is at the printers and will be ready for the HOF weekend. I want to thank everyone for their help, especially Jake and Sarah Jacobs and Scarlett Ehlers. Without their dedication and help we could not get this done. Jake has also been leading the charge on fixing our website. You should start seeing changes over the next few weeks. I will keep you updated as Jake and I implement the new pages and repair the old ones.
Markham has changed their shoot dates from the ones listed on the shoot card. Please see the attached listing of the date changes. Sorry for the inconvenience! Hope to see you all at the HOF and Dixie Grand!
Message from our Florida Delegate:
A Happy New Year to all. Florida trapshooting has a great deal in store for you this month. The following Florida Clubs have scheduled registered shoots and can be found on the FTA website, FLORIDATRAP.com. Indian River, Robinson Ranch, Silver Dollar, Volusia County, Sarasota, Flagler, Markham Park, South Florida, Tallahassee, Gulf Coast, Imperial Polk County and Hurburt. This fine clubs are located all over our State offering registered shooting opportunities throughout the month.
The big tournaments will be at Silver Dollar starting with the FTA Hall of Fame Shoot, Jan. 20 – Jan.22. 2017. (Look for Shoot Program on FloridaTrap.com website). This year our Senior Veteran All American trap shooter Don Kerce will be inducted into the FTA Hall of Fame at a banquet ceremony that weekend. So come over and celebrate with Don on his personal trapshooting achievements and on his induction into the FTA HOF. Banquet tickets will be available at the Silver Dollar desk area.
Next on the trap shooting calendar is the 2017 Dixie Satellite Grand American, Jan. 23 – 29, 2017. This is the 1st Satellite Grand of the new year and has always been a great shoot to attend. Many All Americans will be in attendance and just seeing how they shoot is a worth while trip. Bill Miller, Shoot Manager at Silver Dollar has advised me that the Silver Dollar signature shotshells made by RIO are available in various trap loads. These special signature shells will be sold at approximately $53.00 per flat plus tax. A good plus to come over and shoot a few days at either or both of these fine trap tournaments.
I will be at both shoots and the banquet, so please stop and chat for a while.
